two uncapped pipes on X5 M54 engine, dont know what they are for!

Hi
I have noticed on my 2003 3.0i M54 engine there are two black tubes that come from under the engine to underneath the manifold and these pipes are uncapped and not connected to anything. They are both hookshapped at the end...
Can someone advise if this is normall or should these go somewhere or be capped.
There is no alot of play on the pipes so they are on the position they are and are dont have a lot of play to move to another location and I have looked around where the pipes are to see if I can see something obviious where they should connect too, but I can't....
I have attached a picture of one that is located at the rear of the manifold and there is another one at the front of the manifold by the purge valve.

Small black pipe from the bellhousing pops up just to the rear of the engine (in the 3.0 diesel anyway)

They let any pressure out of the gearbox casing.

Put your vin on Realoem.com and look through the drawings on there.  You should see the items in question
