iPod freezing

Hi, I've got a 2012 X5 with OEM iPod connector. Every now and then the iPod loses connection. It appears the iPod freezes and can only be switched off by resetting it. Then the connection re establishes itself.
Local BMW want it in for 'testing' which is a pain. Tried other iPods and same thing happens.
Anyone experienced similar probs?
Thanks Bob

Got the same on my iphone 4 in my X6. The only way I can get it to reconnect is to drop if off the external device list and start again. It does the same with Bluetooth and that has to be reconfigured for the phone. I think it's a firmware issue between the car and phone. BMW occasionally release patches to match the car to the latest version of IOS.
It started happening after IOS5 was released and has continued to the current version.

The same happens to me too in my 2011 E70, but it also did it in a 320d touring that I had just before the X5. The iPod's about 5 or 6 years old, but once reset works perfectly. It does it more often in colder weather!

Thanks for the replies. I suspected a software issue or faulty lead. Didn't want leave with dealer for a whole day for no reason!

And they would have charged you a full day's 'diagnosis' no doubt.... >:D
That would have been for a Tech to sit in the car and wait for the ipod to freeze....

If you are using the aux USB input, I would suggest putting your music on a USB stick and using that as there will be less over processing of the music. If you use the iPod, it processes it and does what it does, then your car does it again. I used to use an iPod in my m3 but changed to USB stick and found it much better an easier to navigate.
Just a thought

Sorry ignore my last suggestion, I have just read your post again and it's the iPod connector that's being used....not seen that before. O:-)
