Just had a small play around with some 3M Di-Noc Carbon Fibre Wrap ....

Im Thinking of doing this to the Running boards on the X6 Then adding 3 coats of either satin or Acrylic lacquer .....

I think it should look good ? Will compliment the rear diffuser as this will be wrapped along with the the bottom two lip thingys on the front performance bumper .....

Just done eyebrows the same !  ;-)

Will be done in a my garage when done on the X6 So that the Wrap stay a bit warmer and adheres better, ie the circular bits will be more pronounced and defined .....

I'd be tempted to pop the step part if poss - think raj had said something about this once? - and not wrap round the nipples as well (ooeer) as doubtless even the best wrap will eventually dry up and start popping round every one of the buggers and just look tat

I did say personally would give a better finish.

Pop the rubber nipples out then wrap it. carefully cut out the holes and lacquer if required and then refit the rubber nipples. They will: 1) hold the wrap and lacquer down and 2) allow a little protection when stepping on the side steps themselves.

I take it you have to remove the running boards from the car to do this or do the rubber nipples just pop out ?

Cheers

They are tight but will come out. You can buy them new individually and when I had all my work done I was left with a nice plastic cup full of them. I left mine out but am now thinking to ventureshield my gloss back side steps and put the rubber grommets back in to then protect it a bit.

The kids have scuffed mine a bit from getting in/out of the X.

Mmmmm.... Decisions, decisions .....

I'm now considering plasti dip , x5 coats which will dry matt, then if required can gloss later with lacquer ...
