Performance kit

Post by Manfromatlantis » Mon Mar 04, 2013 10:31 pm

Well ...

Here's my final mods for my new x6m 50d ......

Finally got sorted with a performance kit from bmw , and other extra bit n bobs ....

Front bumper, rear diffuser, side skirts ( although keeping the aluminium ones on it so these will be for sale soon !) performance boot spoiler, fins for rear window, and hamman style spoiler, carbon kidneys... All fitted and sprayed etc ... £ 3400.

22" Inch Onyx Alloys in satin black with gunmetal spokes + 3 clearcoats (gloss) with 295/30/22 fronts, 335/25/22 rears continentals, H&R 30 mm spacers front, and 20mm rears to acheive a even wider track.

Oh , and some carbo fibre eyebrows  ;)

Possibly considering having the side steps done the same as the wheels in gunmetal and clear coated or carbon fibre wrapped ? Nt sure which .....

So that's all my mods that will be done and installed ready for when I pick the car up from bmw in around 1 and a alf weeks time .....

Cannot wait , I will post some pics when I get it .... 8)

I will also have a few bits for sale if anyone is interested ...

X6 m50d front bumper, performance side skirts, 2 x Toyo proxes 295/30/22 with 7mm tread and 2 165/35/22 with also 6/7mm tread....

May possibly sell the original brand new alloys not sure yet as I may use those for a winter set up .....

Cheers ......

Oh my giddy aunt he's from Barry!!!  ;-)

And personally it's a mistake keeping the ally side skirts with the performance kit as they just don't match IMO.

Otherwise good choice (as I either have or have had all that ;-) ).  Though I did choose to retain the original front bumper as it's specific to that model anyway.

Get yourself run in asap and enjoy :-)  :-)

+3 on the eyebrows. As for winter wheels. I see the standard set are 20s and I assume staggered. Although you can get winter tyres for these wheels you need to consider how bad the snow gets around your area. If only the odd heavy snow fall a year with the roads quickly cleared then your plan is sound. However if snow is an issue and roads remain covered for days or weeks then a smaller thinner wheel set up should be considered.

Hi thanks for the feedback .....

Personal preference and all that, I think I'm going to keep the Alluminium side skirts, however will get them carbon fibre wrapped ;-)

Snipez, you mention running in ....how many miles? I know the dealer will probably tell me at handover , but just wondered as Ill probably take a trip to the lakes to get run in ....

Thanks Don , I shall ke that in mind ;-)

Sounds nice look forward to seeing the pics.  Out of interest when did you order your X6 M50d and how long did they take to build her?

Hi Peter ....

I think it took around 4 weeks to build, car was ordered around six weeks ago and due to handover on the 11th March, but this could be a day or two longer now due to some extra mods !  ;)

Thanks for the pic Westside, i rather like eyebrows makes them look a little meaner !  >:D

cheers  :)

Nope still not doing the eyebrow thing for me. Horses for courses (entree or main these days lol)
Running in is described in the manual somewhere I think. Something like 1000 miles at under 100 mph and revs under 3/4 maximum. I just behaved myself for a week (ish).

Great mods, looking forward to seeing them!

Not sure about the eyebrows but am prepared to change my mind when you've posted some pics.

Bet it feels like a long wait!

I am thinking that there must be something in the water near you Westside as judging from the colour of you neighbours 3 series modding must be a pre requisite in your part of the world  :))  Ouch my retinas
