Newbie question - 80K service

Post by XLen » Sun Mar 03, 2013 11:27 pm

hi all,
Just picked up my 2004 X3 3.0 Sport today - and wondered if you X3 veterans could assist..
I want to get it serviced as the mileage is 80K and the last service was about 10k ago..

Along with the usual Engine Oil, filters and plugs which other fluids would you recommend changing.?

I was intending on purchasing all the parts from EuroCarParts or GSF and then take them to my local indy. but i suspect more specialist fluids may have to come from the stealers??
Is this correct?

Any help appreciated.

Good Morning Xlen.  As part of the official welcoming comity for the forum (self appointed) I would like to extend a warm and heart felt  :hi:  There are others who will be along shortly to answer, point you in the right direction but in the meantime, make yourself at home and enjoy a great site, with insightful advise and banter to make this place special.  ;)

All we need from your good self is information on your car and a shed load of pictures.  :camera:

Morning and welcome XLen :) it would be a good idea to check when the last brake fluid change was done. This should be done every 2 years and often gets over looked as cars get older. If there is no history of it being done, do it asap. With regard to other servicing bits and bods, pollen/micro filter should looked at. Again this is another item that falls out of the service scope as the vehicle moves on in age. This can be done by you on the drive and is a good opportunity tp clear leaves and other debris out around the scuttle panel area.

It is always worth speaking to your local main dealer and seeing if they will price match the indi quote. My local did this last month and in the end beat the indi price!!!  :)

Good luck with the new car :drive:
