Now is this to do with poor dealer support, incomplete servicing schedules due to cost, or what?  What are they including in the engine failure bracket?  Complete replacement, or say swirl flaps - a nown BMW Issue, or say just one or more injectors going?

It's easy to throw statistics but it would be nice to know the root cause, and even if it's more prevalent in certain engines.  Given the ranges on offer from say BMW & Audi......which ones suffer?

How many on this forum have actually suffered an 'engine failure'?  Not many.
