Lost remap?

Hi all, tad panicking at the moment as took the x5 sd into local dealer for the power steering recall and thought I'd get the security upgrade as well....but now I'm almost certain the remap has been lost that was done by the BWChip guys?
Car still feels fast when booted but just not quite alive. I know you are all thinking You must be able to tell, but spent three days in a suzi jimny so just not 100% sure. Gears are changing just after 3k on general acceleration and thought that it was 4 with the remap?
Anyone else lost a map after the upgrade? Just want to be sure before going mad on the dealership.
Thoughts please......

Plausible for sure - but don't worry. Get in touch with Jason, he'll drop the remap file back on for you (he always keeps a copy). Nowt to worry about (or lose sleep over).
And he will probably read the file on the car before he dumps the remap on, to be sure.

The BMW system the Dealers use has a checksum system and if it detects an error it will re-write the ECU map.
I read an article that made reference to the checksum including an incremental counter that is stored with BMW and if their system sees something different anywhere in the code as logged by the factory, it just overwrites it back to the recorded 'standard' for the car. How true it is I cannot say, but I've seen others on the net reporting similar things, so it is as Sanj says...plausible.
When my security update was done all the key settings for both keys, radio settings, personal preferences and iDrive settings I had set were completely overwritten and I had to set it all up again...

I was told that it would wipe remap so I didn't bother, I was selling the car anyway!

I had the security update done at the same time as the steering recall. But nothing was wiped. Have they changed the update or did my dealer lie!!!!!?

The security update does not update the whole car if done correctly as BMW specify .
It's just a conversion path in one of the ecus not the engine management .
This will not affect a remap at all , if however the car has had a complete programming update session performed this could overwrite a map .
If you just had the security upgrade this should not have involved programming anything .

I guess as mine was a 12 hour 'recode' rather than the 45 minute job others had, then I may well have had another engine map written to the car by BMW as part of their ongoing evolution? I guess I'll never know, but I had not had a remap done.

Thanks for comments. Car is deffinately not as alive as it was before and drives a tad smoother, which is quite nice than the brutal power of the remap.
Surely I have a claim with Beemer?.will try in the morning and feed back.
Will also call Jason....
Many thanks

I wouldn't be so quick to tell BMW, they may have grounds to void your warranty or mark your car for future

Looking at your details, your car will be out of warranty. However, as far as a claim against BMW goes, I'm sure it would have been incumbent upon you to have told them about it first. Otherwise, how could they reasonably know?
Hope you get it sorted!

I don't see it as their fault.
