New X5 4.8 owner

Post by DaveB » Wed Feb 27, 2013 9:52 pm

Just a quick hello. I've been keeping an eye on the forum for a while and doing some research and I've now taken the plunge. My X5 4.8 Le Mans in blue is now sitting on the drive and I'm very pleased with it. As usual when you get a new car, you start thinking what to modify. Wheels, exhaust, ECU tune, LPG etc The feeling goes if you leave it long enough!

The E39 540 touring has now been cleaned and ready for sale. Once it's gone I'll decide what to do.

Dave

Hello Dave and welcome aboard.  You have probably already seen that we are a friendly bunch and always happy to help and dish out advice (not always correct, but well intentioned in my case.) and banter is par for the course.  Needing some pictures.  :camera:

I've got a growing list of tiny niggles that need sorting, not least the bluetooth doesn't go into register mode.

Yep was on forum.bmw5.co.uk I'll advertise the 540 there first - it's well know to the forum.

Thought it rang a bell. I used that forum for years (was on the original members) but under a different username.

Firstly need to check all previous paired phones have been deleted as it can only hold up to 3.

What procedure you using to try and pair?

Does look like a clean example.  Reminds me of mine when I first bought it.

The problem is more fundamental than that. it simply refuses to get into the 'Bluetooth pairing' mode. Pressing the button on the centre console and turning ignition on and then releasing the button after 3-4 seconds does nothing. I've tried holding it down for longer (10 secs +) but no difference.

I've dismantled the centre console and checked the connector hasn't worked loose and there's nothing come adrift and it all looks fine.

I need to get in the back and check the bluetooth module is all connected. I also need to get my bmw scanner working at the weekend. Maybe reset using that and remove any registered mobiles.

It is indeed a fine looking motor you have here Dave.  By the sounds of it you have plenty of experience rummaging around BMWs and I look forward to your future inputs.
