Well its time for a change and the X5 hit the spot for the Mrs.  We are both impressed with the car a 3.0 petrol sport.  Its comfy sporty fast and nimble.  The only gripe is the stereo is absolute pants.  Now looking how to upgrade the sound as it needs some meat and a graffic equaliser for my ears.
The old P38 Rangie feels like a tractor compared to the BMW.
Still need it as I go shooting so the ?BMW is not so goood in the mud.

It will never be as capable as a well shod Range Rover but dedciated tyres will improve mud activity in the X5.

+1 the X doesn't have a low range gearbox, but unless you are doing very serious off roading the X is very capable with a decent set of tyres on. Try putting 'fifth gear X5 Dakar' into YouTube. You maybe surprised.

My winter tyres are M&S mud and snow, they are a nice ride on normal roads and very quiet. Never tried them in very boggy terrain though. It's well worth reading up on tyres before purchasing. They would be good for all year round according to what I have read, as I don't do much mileage.

Welcome aboard. Agree on the stereo comments. I've gone with a Pioneer double din to start and some upgraded speakers with dedicated amps.
