Strange ticking/clicking noise

Hi Guys,

I had 4 new tyres fitted in December and on the drive home I heard a faint ticking/clicking noise when turning.. Which i'm fairly sure is coming from the drivers side. I never thought much of it at the time but its started to become more noticeable.

not sure if its something they have done when doing the tyres or if its just coincidence.

Any thoughts on what it could be? i've looked under and cant see anything catching on it.. i.e plastic bag or something silly.

Obvious thing to look at is the wheel bolts in case they're loose!!  Happened to more than few over the years.

No stones etc in the tread?

After that it could be a CVJ perhaps - are all the boots intact?  No grease stains or holes in them?

thanks for quick reply.. the bolts and tread seem ok..

when it was in for bushes the mechanic looked everything else but did points out the boots the rubber was starting to crack.

Whats the price damage if its them?

Not sure, but plenty of how to's on here and the american ''outpost'' site,
I have bought a pair of new driveshafts cheap off ebay as it is quicker and cheaper to go that way.
there is a post somewhere on here re driveshafts purchase.

I had a similar problem with my 540, it turned out to be the thin metal backing plate behind the disc, the plates can rust and the bolt holes become too big for the bolt heads to hold them securely. This can allow the plate to come into contact with the back of the disc. See if you can isolate which wheel it is coming from and maybe reach through the wheel or in from behind and try moving the backing plate. If it is this then you can usually sort it by putting a washer on the bolt. The noise i was getting did actually sound like a cv joint click.
