Servicing Question

Post by bigsanj » Mon Feb 18, 2013 9:26 pm

Hi All

Got a question about servicing intervals.

The car has only one green light missing. It was serviced in March 2012 and has done 5,000 miles since then.

Unfortunately my own car is a fleet car so just get it done when it screams at me and this is the first time I'm actually taking pride I my wife's car.

What is the correct interval as BMW say every 2 years or when the lights go out. Another dealer says 12 months. Which Is this true as the history book shows a service roughly every 12 months and

Thanks in advance

There should be a brake fluid change every two years and I think that a service may well be done at the same time regardless of mileage if none has been done based on the service lights.  I used to 'lose' one light every 3,000 miles or so.

You'll get an orange 'clock' symbol for the time based servicing.

The newer cars give you a date, and a mileage and that is a maximum of two years out.  My X6 is telling me I need a service this year despite having one last year, and the Dealer tells me that's the MOT warning as it will be three years old in November.
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

X5sport - thanks for the info. Sorry for the late reply.  Took the key in and the car doesn't need a service but just a brake fluid and air con change.
