accessing reverse lights - X5 2003 E53 3.0d Sport

Had a dash warnign tosday saying check reverse lights - but I cannot see for the life of my how to access/remove the cluster? can anyone help please?

Page 156 in the manual - well my version anyway
Unclip the interior plastic trim from the lower tailgate and that gives you access to the bulbholders. It says use a screwdriver to remove the trim, but to me that would scratch the paint - or risk it anyway.

As above, when I changed my reverse bulbs to bright white jobbies, I just carefully used a flat head scrwdriver to release the plastic panel. It's very straight forward.
