Frenchman stuck at 125mph

Just read the article on Sky News. Apparently he couldn't stop and drove for 150 miles across the Belgium border before running out of fuel.

Am I missing something here but surely putting the car into neutral or pushing the clutch would enable you to stop or slow down enough to turn off the ignition or use the handbrake?

Apparently the guy called the police who then arranged an escort and cleared the way for him. Agree re why couldn't put the car in neutral - although maybe the electronics weren't responding - it was a Renault after all.  :))

Fair enough, couldn't find link on sky.

Agree with neutral thing unless Auto of course and therefore locked in gear.

The car had been disability spec'd so I doubt it was a manual. Also who knows how it had been modified to accelerate and brake.

Mine would probably only do 50 miles at that speed before it ran out!
