Post by MrMaloo » Wed Feb 13, 2013 8:10 am

Hi!

Have been looking at x5's for about a month now. Thanks for all the interesting info on this forum.....great help, especially the copy of the extras/options list. Have looked at a couple of cars but they weren't quite right. Now i've found what looks to be a good one......am going to view it on saturday morning! Fingers crossed it's a winner!

I'm looking at 04-06 plate X5 4.8is.......anything in particular i should look for when checking it out on saturday?

Thanks

Jon

Hi &  :hi: MrMaloo,

Nice choice of car your after there.  I would advise taking your time when looking around the car, playing with all the electrics and have a good test drive, and not just up and down some smooth A road.  Look for some B road or even unclassified as this will give you a better idea of how the car rides and may highlight any suspension issues.

Are you buying from a dealer?  Check the history and don't be afraid to give any dealers on the paperwork a call to confirm all is in order.  If you can get a look at the logbook and the previous owner doesn't live too far away, pay them a visit.  I've done this in the past and well worth the effect, as previous owners have less reasons to lie.

Good luck, Don

Hello & Welcome to the club.......

Have a good look at the Buyers Guide on the Forum as that will cover most of the obvious things you need to know, but as Don suggests you need to check everything.

Lol just found out the previous owner traded in the X5 for a left hand drive Humvee....because it was easier for him to shoot out of the window whilst hunting! Fingers crossed for tomorrow! :))

Just got back having bought the x5. Wow - what an enjoyable drive home!

Very pleased with it as it had a few extras that weren't listed...

Folding & dimming mirrors
Pan roof
Sat nav
Heated rear electric adjustable seats
Double glazing!!!
12 speaker sound system with subwoofer
Towbar

Not found anything else yet but am about to head outside with the manual and have a good play.

Photos to follow...

Congratulations!  May you have many, many more enjoyable driving miles.  Is that list of extras the ones you didn't know about?  If so, what a great bonus.

I don't believe so.  It would say Aux Heating if the Webasto heater is fitted.

The one previous owner was Viscount Linley  8)

You would have thought he'd have stumped up for comfort seats!

Did he redo all the woodwork, and replace the seats with hand crafted sofas?  Didn't know that double glazing is an option?
