I remember a friend of mine with a 3.0 petrol lost his and it cost him only a few quud to get a new one. Would an E39 one fit?

No idea :noexpression:...knowing BMW it would be a different diameter...
Now I think about it....
I need a captive nut for the pollen fillter screws
I need a captive nut for the sound deadning panel over the engine and bolt to go with it
I need a nut for the scuttle under the wipers
I haven't given blood for a while either so a trip to the dealer perhaps warranted
...but I'm not clumbsy O:-)

You can always say that the car comes with a spare one when you sell it......

That's a point...nicely outside of the box thinking......"look sir, it's stored down there for safe keeping"
