Extended Warranty - Recommendations

My warranty is about to expire for my X5, apart from BMW warranty, anybody has had good experiences with others?
I used Warranty Direct for a couple of years. £50 excess, diagnostics and ICE not covered but otherwise OK. Paid out for me rebuilt gearbox and mechatronics unit. Was about half the cost of the BMW Warranty I think. Cancellation penalty of £50 plus 30% of premium so you may get nothing back.
Mixed feelings about whether I would go with them. They're an insurance company and some here have had 'challenges' getting everything paid for. Others (like me) had no issues other than when cancelling the policy when I sold the car as it's not transferable.
