Take your vehicle to your dealer.

A little confusing, the recall states all 30 and 35 models built up to nov 12 yet the 35 became the 40 late 2010 I think.  My vin number isn't mentioned either.

I will check, of course, but should a recently purchased AUC car had this done or will the dealer wait to be asked?

It ought to have been done, but don't assume they will actually have done it.  Under the AUC they'd try to get the insurer to pay no doubt... ;)

Not the case, BMW (GB) pay for all Recall work as do all vehicle manufacturers through the warranty system. As for vehicles being checked. Every time a car goes in to the work shop the VIN is checked against the BMW system to confirm all vehicle updates, "safety checks" and recalls are upto date. This has to be stamped and detail on the job card. It's in their interest to do so as they get paid for any work carried out  by BMW.

My e61 had both the battery recall done before I received the recall letter, when in to adjust the exhaust. The security update was also done at the same time with out asking as I had forgotten all about it  :-[
