Seems like all the official figures are pointless as not real world driving

From checking out several cars most figures are 20% less which ties up with wife's Astra 1.9 diesel over 15k miles averaged 39.4, but on a run can see 55 mpg.

New system on the way from 2015 if all the international parties in the US, European Commission and Asia can agree how to test and how to factor 'real world' driving and environmental factors in (EU test is done at 20C as one example of an issue for UK cars as our average temps are lower) to the correction factors needed.
