Hi in the middle of running the 40 Pin & Radio Convertion Extension Lead from the new head unit to the rear of the car (X5 E53 4.6is model) inside more or less totally stripped out down the whole of the passengers side. Does anyone know where in the rear of the vehicle the 40-pin conncetions have to be made?

Into the quadlock - that is connected to the RCM (Radio Control Module) buried under the spare/compressor/plastic surround next to the battery.

Is the radio antenna/ aerial connection plug/point down there as well?
Is it OK to fit the GPS antenna behind the panelling as it has a magnetic base?

If you have OEM sat nav, I would suggest connecting the GPS aerial to the original one in the spoiler. Putting behind the dash does work but is far from ideal and you will have signal issues at times.

I have the pre-facelift model is the GPS aerial in the spoiler on this model also?
Also is the connection point of the OEM sat nav, is it on the back of the original radio unit or in the rear well?
