On a serious note, memory is the quickest and easiest thing to upgrade and isn't costly. You've only got 1Gb at the mo and tbh that needs to be atleast double that these days.

Memory will definitely help. 1GB is insufficient to run Wn7/32-bit properly. A maximum of 2GB is supported by that motherboard (Assuming it's an Inspiron 6400 or E1505?).
Memory type = 1.8-V SODIMM DDR-2 running at either 533MHz or 667MHz depending upon the exact model.
£20-£30 depending upon the exact spec needed by the machine and quality you are happy with.
Our work laptops were migrated from XP to Win-7 and all the older ones had to have RAM upgrades as they only had 1GB on the units...now have at least 2GB.

Need to now exactly which model you have. It looks like a Pentium Dual Core so might be the 667MHz version. You may need to get into the BIOS to see what the 'Front Side Bus' speed is set to.
Or you could go to Crucial Memory (one of the better makes)
here and either look up your machine, or run their scanner utility to find what you need. Then go hunt it down on the web.. (you will find the memory is cheaper in most cases).

What do you do with it?
To be honest, unless it's running applications that need super graphics or you are manipulating large databases and spreadsheets, or trying to edit HD Video in real time then it's a perfectly adequate laptop. Give it some more memory space to play in and it will speed things up. It will never be a lightning fast machine as Dell didn't aim it at that market sector. Not everyone needs Core i7 processors, 16GB RAM, über graphics and HD processing..
OK it's all pretty old technology now, but still 'adequate' for routine tasks. Time might be its worst enemy though, particularly battery life wise.
