hi guys apologies for starting a new thread but though i could get some answers on my matter.

i have just purchased a 4.6is x5 , . car is brill only i have just had the 'transfail safe mode 'come up last week,
i have purchased a new battery all was well at first although its now returned.
if i turn the ignition first thing it comes on the if i turn the key of f then start again its gone.
it then might not appear again all day. when it is on my car does have issues changing gear but when its off its fine.

also my speakers have gone haywire it not just fuzzles out of the rear door with no sound regardless if stereo is on or off,

I had the same message and that was not long after i had replaced the battery, do you have any other lights on the dash i.e red battery light?
i thought it was the alternator as it was only giving about 10 volts out, but i have just replaced the FSR unit first as i believe it can cause all sorts of problems and my fan blower was also poor, just need to charge my battery and retest the alternator now to see if it has done the trick

Try not to worry.  I had the same thing after BMW assist disconnected my battery and they told me to take it on a journey and it should disappear on next start up and it did I also replaced the battery and it happened again so knew what to do. Hope it works for you
