BMW ipod connection

Post by Buster » Thu Oct 28, 2010 11:32 pm

Hope someone can help here, I want to fit an ipod connection in place of the existing CD changer. I noticed BMW do a kit but has anyone fitted the kit? I have a satnav headunit if that makes a difference.

I also spotted this on ebay - ebay link, anyone know if this is any good?

Never seen this one in use so can't help. Used to have an Intravee on my E53 and that worked well but was more expensive that the price of this unit on eBay. I'm sure lots of people will be interested to hear the result if you eventually buy one, so keep us informed.

If you have a quick look at some of the generic BMW forums, especially US based ones, you'll find lots and lots of posts about the DICE. They are a bit like Marmite, some people love them and others hate them with a passion.

This sort of sums up the haters :

If you have Nav and can afford the Intravee then it's the best by some way.

Have the dice ipod in my 4.4 works well but for some reason the ipod keeps setting its self in repeat and shuffle mode even when I've turned them off on the ipod, got the same system in my e39 528i and don't have any problems with it!
Its easy to fit but if you have the dsp amplifer in the boot you will need to cut into the wiring and power the dice unit( very easy to do). Think the whole job took about 30 mins to fit in the E39 as the ipod lives where the cd changer was.

Fitted the dice kit today, took about 30mins to remove all trims and run cable to the glove box. Connected the cables to the dice module and ipod and walla - music to my ears. Cannot fault it at all, the song title and artist details come up on the dash display and all functions from the stereo and the MFSW work perfectly.
