Stunning car. I always fancied an M5, and still do. Im 50 this year and due a mid life crisis car purchase.
For those who have owned one, would it be better getting the E60, or is the E39 the one to go for.?
Prices forthe e39 are now very tempting, but Ive had an E60 530I and loved it.
Trouble with the E60 is the high road tax. Hate giving the Government more dosh.
Sorry I seem to be hIGHJACKING THIS THREAD WITH THAT QUESTION !!!

Very nice. I wouldn't mind an 'M' but ho hum. Still those nice people at Spartanburg actually built my X6 on my 50th Birthday.....now that's a pressie (even if I did have to pay for it myself...

Lovely motor. Really nice car.
Is it totally original or have you added some mods to it?

Thanks for the kind replies. She is totally stock albeit for the white markets, driving lights, registration plate light and poly bushes. She's only covered 73k mikes and the guy who looks after her used to be an M Master technician. It's surprising the respect you get even from Ferrari drivers. In answer to E39 or E60 that will be determined by the deepness of your pockets good examples of an E39 are hard to come by E60 there will be more but some of the repair costs might put you off, clutch iand Heavy right foot, SMG box and potential new clutch £2k new suspension about the same on E60. E39 is manual only but have a host of other things to look out for. A good E39 will cost 8 - 10k whilst an E60 probably £15k plus. Both cars drive very differently just to confuse things more lol. If you need more info let me know.

Superb looking car......Used E39 M5 was seriously considered by me some time ago.
They can be costly to keep in fine form....Not that the E53 X5 has been cheap to keep healthy.
On rare snow days like today though the X5 serves well.
E39 M5 interior might take some wear transporting our Labrador though.

Yes agree with the above its a beauty but it wouldn't last long with my 11 month old rottweiller X5 is perfect.

Very nice example. I had an E60 M5 but still would love a clean E39 M5. They still say the E39 M5 is the best one to date still.
