Hi Guys,

Had a look under the floor of the boot and there seems to be a place for a tool but nothing there. Any ideas?

Hmm I wondered if it was something like that. Like an emergency glass hammer. Not much use in the boot. Maybe we aren't worthy to have them fitted in the UK.  :P

IIRC that red tool is to release either the handbrake (from boot- LH cubby hole), or disengage 'park' if the battery is dead (from underneath the LH cup holder). Can't remember which one of the two above.

If I get a chance will look through the manual and confirm. :))

According to the US Manual its a tool for refilling the diesel exhaust fluid for X5's with "Advanced Diesel", maybe the same as "Blue Performance" here.

Just checked my manual and the tool does both jobs- use one side of it for the handbrake release and the other for Park release.

Must be the UK models are guaranteed not to fail so no need for the tool.
