20" wheels replaced under warranty

Not sure where I saw a thread which mentioned 20" wheels being changed under warranty due to lacquer peeling.....

However, I'm please to say that Chandlers have agreed that three of our wheels are in fact starting to go on the centre and they're changing them under warranty  8)

The lacquer is just starting to go in the centre of the wheel which I suggested was unacceptable for a car 6 months old

Bloody handy as one of them was kerbed by Mrs. Mogsyman the day after she picked it up from being repaired due to the hailstones!

Good result.

I had 6 wheels replaced on my M due to that same issue.

Yep a good result with no argument whatsoever which was unexpected!

Just keep the pressure hose off the wheels though ...

Always thought those cars were a bit odd, really did hit the ugly branch if it is a 6 wheeler !

Result, although I wonder if an aftermarket refurb. Would have proved stronger as there seems to be an issue with OEM wheels if the lacquer peels so easily.  Have to give mine the once over!

I had all mine replaced around May last year (at only 8 months old) and I noticed one of mine is going again. I will check them all over at the weekend...

Had my rear wheels checked today and dealer has agreed that they are substandard and ordering  me another two new rears he claimed that its the first they have had like this.

It may well be but I'm amazed at the lack of fighting we're having to get these replaced.

Looks to me that BMW know they've got a problem.

I'm taking mine down on Monday as the second full set are going, two quite badly.  Very annoying as I've done 9,000 miles in 16 months. I'd expect them to last longer than this!

Probably using another water based lacquer that's unsuitable for use on wheels.  No doubt BMW will be having words with BBS (assuming they still make your particular wheel type) to find a fix.

They just keep going on about not using high pressure hoses on the wheels though, that and chemicals.

I do think they have some sort of point there as both can blow a stone chip into a massive flaking gala.

Mine were going around the centre disk which I would suggest didn't start as a stone chip.

All three were the same!
