Heavy smoke on acceleration

Hi all,

Noticed the past week or so that when accelerating heavily there seems to be quite an excessive amount of smoke coming out of my 3.0 diesel, hear it could be a number of things, car has been regularly serviced and only had its last one about 2000 miles back.

Any suggestions what this could be?

Cheers

Simon

If the smoke is a grey/brown colour and the car is no later than 2004 the chances are you'll have the old type breather. Change this to the vortex type breather and your smoke should be gone.

Part is about £45 and there are instructions on this site how to change it.

Jeegnesh has a 2005 car and that had the old style breather! Get that changed asap, will help a great deal (if the smoke is not blue - only on startup)

Oh and has the oil and oil filter been changed for sure? Is the oil looking clean?

My 55 plate had the old type fitted too - looked like it had never been changed.
