Wiring diagram for number plate lights

Post by j2d » Sat Jan 05, 2013 9:18 pm

Hi,

I'm after a wiring diagram for number plate lights, so I can see which cables go to the drivers side number plate light.

Can anyone help?

Take the number plate plinth off, disconnect the connector that goes to it and then with the lights switched on on the car meter the points in the connector on the car side. Should only be two wires +

What about the wires going to the number boot switch?

I'm guessing there will be 3 + (2 numberplate +'s and 1 boot switch +)

If you meter them with the lights on one should give you 12v, then switch the lights off and meter them again. The one that had 12v and the doesn't is your lights +.

To find the negative take the cover off the bulb that's still working and do a continuity check between the negative side of the bulb holder and the pins on the plinth connector. The one that rings out is the negative.

Hope this helps.

I might try coding out the number plate light check today. I will let you know how it goes.
