Evening all. New on here but been reading the forum for a while after getting my 3.0d le mans sport last year and learnt a huge amount about my car from here!
So after 6 months of mainly hassle free driving (some bushes have been replaced) driving home tonight I thought my nav screen looked a bit different and then realised the telephone and BMW assist options on the menu have just disappeared. The phone is also not connecting through the car I.e. if I dial a number off the phone.
I did stop off on the way home and the car was switched off for 20 minutes and hoped this might resolve it but still nothing. The car has an AUC warranty so can go to the dealers but any ideas from the experts first?
Cheers

Telephone option disappeared from menu
Re: Telephone option disappeared from menu
On the BMW Assist side, is it not a subscription-based service renewable annually anyway? This could explain why access denied.
Re: Telephone option disappeared from menu
The BMW assist option has been there even though the subscription expired before I bought the car. Can't see why this should affect the telephone option. It is like the two options have literally been deleted off the menu screen
Re: Telephone option disappeared from menu
This is normally fixed by a reboot of the system, i.e. take the negative lead off the battery and led the system reboot after reconnecting.

As you said on your other thread, a Dealer has been working on the car and could well have upset something. Mine came back once with the satnav not working (frozen display). Took them an hour to fix it - by a power reset (dis the battery) in the end, and a firmware reload.
The Assist bit only affects that part of the system, and your phone will (or should) still work regardless. For those with the Siemens built-in phone - the one you just put a SIM card in - up until 2005 Assist only worked with the GSM900 (O2 and Voda) cellular system. GSM1800 (Orange and T-Mob) were not supported. I got my Assist fees refunded by BMW GB because the built in car phone would not provide assist functions with my Orange SIM. something to do with GSM1800 data not being compatible. Another thing the selling Dealer didn't know, and BMW failed to put in their brochures..... . 2005 saw the 'Telematics' version introduced with its built in SIM.
