Hi all, just joined after visiting as a guest a number of times looking for information. Have been meaning to join for quite a while but never got round to it. Have been the proud owner of a 55 plate 3.0d sport in silver with leather, comms, privacy glass, running boards, 19's and coming up for 80.000 on the clock for nealry 3-1/2 years. I am very happy with the car except for the usual problems, and yes it has the dreaded gearbox jerk, but you get used to it. Initially looked on this forum for information regarding the gearbox, but have not found anything conclusive to fix the problem, apart from buying a new gearbox. Telephone has never worked since getting the car, should have taken back to the dealer while under warranty, but never really thought I would need it until recently got the wife's new car (Merc SLK 350 with command) and relaised how handy it is to have hands free phone conversations while driving. Anyway thought I would introduce myself, and will monitor posts to see if there is anything I can help anyone with.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.
I thought the "dreaded lurch" was only relevent to the 5 speed ZF box, until recently when another member posted that he was having problems with his 05 X.
I bit the bullet and had my gearbox serviced a few months ago, I wasnt having issues but did it as a preventative maintenance job at 100K. goes to show high miles isnt a cause if yours does it at 80K
Hope you enjoy the crack on here, there a good bunch and very informative.

Thanks for welcome and the quick replies. I will try and post some pics when I figure out how.
Horizon, thanks for the info, but mine is intermittent, never does it when cold. When warm it sometimes suprises you if your not prepared for it. The wife didn't like it at first, but she got used to it. There are ways around it.

Welcome. Regarding the lurch, it's a characteristic that was present on my facelift when it came to me at 38k on the clock, so definitely not high mileage only. As you say, once used to it, there are ways around it. I do find that the adaptive throttle reset (or whatever it's called) does help smooth things out for a while.

Thanks Sanj, success managed to upload a picture, took a while, photobucket seams to take a long time to import photos, but here is the first one. Took this just after I got it. It's not quite as clean at the moment.

Managed to add some more photos. These 2 are from the snow we had back in November 2010. I was quite suprised at how good the X was in the snow, even with standard fit Diamaras.
