I thought they were an MOT fail and had been banned due to danger to pedestrians  >:(

Yes I thought that as well.  There are still a few vans, 4x4 running around with them on, but on the whole they've become socially unacceptable.  Not a bad thing.

That's the type i have on my 4.6is. And it is CF wrapped and it did not fail mot

You may be OK on the year of yours but later vehicles, and certainly new ones, now come under stricter rules effective from 2009.  Manufacture and Sale of these things in the UK is much more prescriptive (particularly for type approval) than it was.  But like so much here, it is the unsuspecting purchaser who gets clobbered with suppliers laughing all the way to the Bank.  Just look at how many sites now use the 'for show/non-road use only' statements/caveats on mods...... ;).

Some insurers now refuse cover due to the potential damage to pedestrians caused by the metal ones.

But that's getting us off-topic......I still don't want one, even CF wrapped........though 'Man Pink' might be a possibility >:D
