All, advise pls if u can
I have a few clarifications re.
The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 pls.
1. How does this apply to online sellers outside the UK, for example from HK?
2. is there a specific clause in the regulations which specifically adddresses intl sellers?
basically i'm trying to return a camera bag bought from
DigitalRev; within 5 days from purchase, unused. They've refered it to their 'seniors'??
what nonsense is that.. i expected simple return instructions, like a colloect+ location.
cheers
j

My understanding is that it only applies to Europe.

Store in HK = you are screwed as far as returns are concerned. They will likely suggest you return item, at your own cost, and pay for postage of any replacement item as well. Be prepared to wait a couple of months for all this to occur. The major downside to saving a few bob I'm afraid. Been there done that.

Their returns policy is
here, and as said above HK is not covered by the UK Distance Selling Regs. Sorry.
Extract of the postage costs on the:
You must pay for return postage and insure the product against loss or damage during its transit to us
They will pay for cases of damaged goods.

thanks yes i quoted that along with the uk distance selling regulations (for whatever its worth) and sent a long email yesterday. today they had accepted my return.
but the postage to HK is on me!
it would have actually made more sense to sell it off on ebay (given teh postage costs) but i want to try this out all the way until i get money back >:D
btw, ive bought myself a
Canon EOS M. being an amature photographer, with my reasonable level of research i have bravely ventured into the world of mirrorless EOS cameras
this is because i believe in today's day and age the view finder is more or less redundant. if so the massive amount of complexity and weight with mirrors and prisms should be avoidable, whilst providing the same advanced photographic capabilities. thus, the birth of mirrorless cameras. this has the same APS-C sensor, Digic 5 processor etc.
i expect these to takeover the photography world in due course
i do feel somewhat alone in this at least for now though :noexpression:
lets see how it goes
this return is about the camera bag that i bought along with it - which i didn't like

to close the loop on this plus to be fair by the seller,
i got the full refund finally, hurrah for me!!
took a full month and a bit, had to do about 5 emails, starting from 'why can't it be returned', then 'have you received the returned goods its been a while' then challenging 'why is it not a full refund', etc, but finally got there!
