Never chiped a car or had a remap done, but have a 30D 2011 facelift with 245hbhp and thinking of getting something done for a few more bhp/torque increase with more mph.
What are the pros and cons of each method?

Remap tends to be more readily tuned to your specific vehicle, with option to request tailored power spread (econ, mid range power etc). Plug in box is one size fits all. I have only ever had remaps done which were written for the vehicles themselves.

Hi 5wanny, mine was chipped and remapped by Formula One in Gateshead. Cost was £499 but it pulls like a train!!
Personally, I would always have it done by an expert coz, given how sensitive BM electronics are, you never know what damage a plug in could cause. (Just my opinion!!)

yeah, the more i read up on it a remap by a pro seems the safest way. Still got 2 yrs warranty left on car so need to wrap my head around that one now
