I need to replace the headlight units on my 2002 X5 3.0d Sport, pre-facelift. The standard tungsten units are rubbish.

I have been looking at units from FK Automotive, projector type c/w servomotors at £237.70 but am not sure  if they fit my model or what the quality is like.
Autoarts at £145 seem too cheap.

Has anyone fitted these or any other types they could recommend as I dont want to buy crap!!
Plug in fit would be best as I cant afford to have the car off the road

I'm also on the lookout for the same! Want something that will look a bit more modern without looking cheap and tacky like some units I've seen. Any recommendations?

Sorry to jump on your thread mate, saves me starting another one the same  :)

No probs Gav, given the number of complaints about our lights maybe we could do a group buy, the more the merrier (cheaper)!!

Hi Gav and Gaz. I have emailed nicedeals.co.uk asking for a price delivered to 3 addresses for all suitable headlight units. I like the look of FKFSBM053 at £242 but FK Automotive are advertising them for £209.72.
My email provider wont let me email FK Automotive so could one of you try please. Nicedeals say they offer multi buy discounts so maybe they will be ok. I will let you know as soon as I get a reply,

cheers crofter

ps Mod's- hope this doesn't break any site rules but I cant see a way to do private messages

Just to add mate I used FK last month to buy my LED taillights and am more than happy with tha qualoty/fitment. Every Friday they reduce the prices by a fair bit, so might be worth checking back this Friday and see how much the lights are then? I think they were reduced to £194 or so last week?

What other options are there then?

i might be selling my headlight assemblies in the picture if anyone is interested. with the option of 75W HIDs or 55W HIDs. in the picture i had the OEM xenons installed. after that picture i actually had the headlights wrapped with black mesh to give it a stealth look. i am on a project and if it goes well i won't need these nor the OEM Xenon Headlights which i have for sale.

By the way i got mine from germany from nice price tuning which i don't see anything available by them. I bought 2 sets for E39 and 2 sets for E53. Very pleased with the quality. And friend whom i got it for are happy with them as well.

Hi Gav/Gaz. have had a reply asking if we preferred chrome or black so have said we are not really fussy but possibly chrome. Will advise any update.

Get a pic of both versions chrome/black to decide but would have thought black was the way forward.

I have the ones in the picture as well. bit of a fiddle getting them through the slam panel but apart from that an easy job. Mine have horrible yellow angel eyes though so I disconnected them.
