Exhaust tips

Post by awj85 » Mon Dec 17, 2012 2:47 pm

As title, all looking a bit dull on my 4.4.  Have tried Autosol but not made any difference.  Anyone suggest something else to reform them to their former glory?

Are the tips removable or part of the exhaust pipe?

I gave up trying to get my chrome tips clean and sprayed them Satin Black.

Looks much better IMHO.  ;)

Not sure if they are removable or not.  I'll have a look later.  However, I like the idea of spraying them satin black.  I intend to have the roof rails off and spray them so can do all at the same time.  :-)

I thought 4.4 tailpipes are black anyway! Mine are! My plastic tailpipe surrounds have gone a bit white (heat damage?)
Is this normal? I've ordered some new ones today.

I've seen a lot of detailers use a Dremel to polish normal metal tips, but obviously that's
not good if they're chromed !! But otherwise , the metal comes up really well

[/quote]I've ordered the plastic bits that surround the tailpipes that fit into the bumper.I think they protect the bumper from the heat. Not the tailpipes.
