Interesting discussion at the dealers today. The bottom part of the exhausts are having some "missing" bits on the edge of the chrome and I popped in to discuss the replacement.
First statement by the dealer: They are not covered as they are not standard so not part of the warranted items. They assumed I had them dealer fit (first mistake). Once I put them right, they agreed that they are standard on the 40d, but NOT on the 30d M sport.
Second mistake: "They all go like that". Yeah, right. Not interested in that statement so we quickly got passed that.
So if you have a 30D M Sport, the chrome square exhaust fittings are NOT covered under warranty as they are after market fits. This also lead me to think that any fitted non standard item is then also not covered, interesting ...

I had chrome peeling from both my side 40d X drive badges after 18 months.
I have noticed this on others, it would be worth checking all of them.
The dealer replaced these without question.
I would not say the chrome was peeling, more it hat turned white.

I have no badges

This is the inside edge of the exhaust (non wheel barrow ones).

My wheel barrow ones seem to be intact!

But I thought all dealer supplied parts/ accessories came with a full 2 year guarantee? Well- according to the blurb on the website etc...
Is the chrome peeling or chipped?

Chrome obviously can't cope with sharp corners, but round pipes have no problems...

Bottom inside part is pealing away and showing the (plastic ?) underneath.

Outside is chrome plated steel, with a second 'funnel' like part inside (which is black- probably powder coated)
If it's the chrome on the 'outside' part peeling away, especially on the rolled over edge- chances are the metal hasn't been polished properly prior to be being dipped in the chrome.
If its the 'inside' funnel-like part (again would be made of steel) then powdercoating can be problamatic if the metal is not cleaned properly prior to the coating applied.
If you could get a pic up maybe?
Either way sounds like dodgy parts...

The bottom edge wrap around bit seems like it is plastic?

That looks as if the chrome has not adhered to the nickel coating properly (hence you can see the yellowy colour underneath the chrome). That will get worse if unaddressed (think of it like paint- the clearcoat not adhered properly to the base coat, and starts to come away, eventually it all flakes off)
Still not sure where the plastic is? Being an exhaust i'd say it would be all metal due to the heat etc.

That edge just feels very light and thin, hence me describing it as plastic
