Dont know if this link to an article extolling the virtues of the X5 is of interest to anyone?

Its an old article from 2009 but might be of use to anyone thinking of buying an X5 or for those of us who have already taken the plunge its always reassuring to know you bought the right car!

Thanks - enjoyed reading.  I can vouch for the E70 being brilliant in the snow - did a similar drive but to the Swiss Alps last year encountering some very severe conditions. With the benefit of 18in winter wheels it was very sure footed and felt entirely safe at all times, and the journey there and back was more of adventure than something to make it through. May even do the same this year at some point ...
