Good evening . I hope to be in the market for a 4.0 D SE in the coming months and have been lurking picking up bits and pieces of advice . Any assistance would be gratefully received. I am particularly interested in any info on the type of deal I am going to be able to strike with the dealer.I will not be part exing anything else so any tips on maximising my position would be great. Happy to recieve a p.m. if that helps.

Not bought new for a while & never from BMW so cant advise re current discounts.

Maybe worth looking at this clicky .........others may wish to comment. Autoebid by no means new to the game.

Personally if it were me I would configure a spec and email the sales managers of as many dealers as possible making it quite clear I was after the best price.

I wouldnt mention service packages &/or finance initially, (unless required), as these may cloud the maths, but do consider the later inclusion of same to hammer a deal from any shortlist - assuming you end up with one !

No probs - have you defo made you mind up on an X or is there anything else in the running?

Pretty much made up my mind I think Not too keen on any of the other SUVs and a big motivator is the ability to tow. My first love is motorcycles and this year the annual trip to Europe was done by loading the bikes onto a trailer and towing down to Plymouth , overnight crossing to Santander then into the Pyrenees ( used my mates car) This cut out around 800 miles of motorway and delivered us right into the great roads .He has a Honda CRV and the elevated driving position was a real help plus we could load the back up with our gear. I like my cars also so something with a bit of image and some grunt and here I am at an X5 , thenks for your interest

Hi and welcome aboard AW8's suggestion to email is a good idea but phone can be your best friend. Not sure where you are in the country but I have good knowledge of the network and would be happy to advise possible routes to try. As you are buying new any dealer in the country is well worth a shot. Howerver do consider that VAT goes up to 20% on 4th Jan and things may start to get busy for the end of year regs. Have a clear idea of the spec you want, use the online BMW configurator so you know the start point. As far as discount goes, think someone on here got 10% recently. Not sure if this was factory order or dealer stock. The later is what you should be looking for if flexible on spec. Salesmen always like to deal with physical stock and are more likely to a better deal. If you find one in stock try to deal in the middle of the month for delivery by the end, again likely to get a better deal. Sorry if you already know these points and not teaching how to suck eggs

Thanks Chompers ,great advice. I have a good idea of spec but think the factory tow bar requirement may limit me as far as availability goes .i am based in the North east but wouldnt be put off if I had to travel , thanks again
