Key Fob Security

I received a  letter  from my Insurance company re Key Fob security  issues,  suggesting a mandatory visit to the main dealers, which i did combined with a  28,000 mile service.  The software update was undertaken , apparently it can take up to three  hours.  I did inform my Insurance that the update had been undertaken and asked them to confirm that as i was fully comp i would be covered in the event it disappeared when locked .
The answer seemed alarmingly vague, ( no pun intended )  so i wonder have  BMW GB really sorted this issue out or have i just been fobbed off in the event they can sell me a new car if my 2009 X 5 ( high risk ) model gets stolen , presuming they pay me out  , and dont wriggle out by quoting the faulty key fob storey !!!!!
Anyone  any news or do i have to sleep with one  eye open ?

If you feel your insurance company is being vague, you really need to to get them to clarify their position on the matter.  If they are not covering your car fully them you need to speak to BMW UK to see what they intend to do to resolve the situation and restore the insurance companies faith in BMWs security systems.

Thanks Don, i will write  to my Insurance as i have 20 years  NCB record  reflected in my premium and dont want to suffer through no fault of my own, particularly as i leave the car at Man Airport  on long haul trips quite often.!  (3  car parks  known locally as  Mancudia  Triangle were  cars disappear regularly )
There seems to be a grey area re cover , and i have read in the press  of people that have had their  newish 2009 - 2010 BMWs  disappear and had  issues  re payout amount  re values  leaving them  out of pocket when their cars like mine  were  low miles  and immaculate !
