Front and Back Badge Replacement

Post by dark_stranger » Wed Nov 28, 2012 1:14 pm

Front & Back Badge Replacement
My front BMW badge was rather worn and tatty & therefore decided to replace both the front and back badges, but not with the original BMW colour badges, but black carbon badges.  Searching on ebay, most sellers were selling the X5 front bagde as 82mm and the rear badge as 72mm/73mm, but the correct size for the rear is 78mm.

Front badge size: 82mm
Rear badge size: 78mm

Tools: Flat head screwdriver, old credit card, sticky pads/double sided tape
Time: 10mins

Front Badge:
The front badge is simply attached to the bonnett with 2 pins on the back of the badge, inserted into 2 holes on the bonnett. You simply have to prise the badge off. I found that placing the card between the badge/bonnett, prevented you from damaging the bonnett with the screwdriver.

Rear Badge:
The rear badge is also attached to the boot with 2 pins on the back of the badge, inserted into 2 holes on the bonnett, but also sticky tape (didnt come with replacment rear badge). You simply have to prise the badge off, with a little bit more force due to sticky stuf. As with the front, I found that placing the card between the badge/boot, prevented you from damaging the bonnett with the screwdriver.

Thats it, quick, simply and maximum effect.

Front and Back Badge Replacement

Looks good. Can you recommend the seller?

Good quality?
All straight and aligned. I know some on eBay are questionable.

Cheers

To be honest, didnt check, but looking at the pictures, they seem fine & pins all lined up. I got them from an ebay seller called, strangely enough,  "badgeman_1232" and arrived within a couple of days, and also received an email from him with a document containing loads of different BMW branded bits, such as gearknobs, etc.  The quality of the repalcement badges seems like for like with the originals.

Front and Back Badge Replacement

Looks good to me albeit I'm not one for changing OEM designed badges.

Glad the ebayer supplied a decent set.

Tis a straightforward swap over and like the replacements. I know have the all black ones.

Have a set of all black wheel centre caps to sell to.

I bought carbon fibre badges centre caps kidney grilles and steering wheel badge of a guy called Ian Clifton but I'm not sure on his eBay username.  All fit perfect and look fantastic

That has just helped me allot as I need to remove my X6 rear badge and it will not budge due to the tape. I can see under it now to see what I am up against. :)

I did have a feeling that is his username, but wasn't 100% sure. :-)

badgeman_1232 doesnt seem to be a member on Ebay anymore and all I can find on Ebay are 74mm rear or a pair of 82mm. Anything I have found at 78mm doesnt state that it fits any of the X5's! :wall:

Try Badgeman_123

think that is him. I have certainly messaged _123 before and he has full sets for x5. That was a few months ago mind.
