iPhone query

Hi. I've specified media pack, telephone USB audio interface and mobile app preparation on my order for an X5
Will this enable text messages to be displayed on screen? If not, is there anything extra I should get to do so or is it not supported? Sorry, but dealer rather vague!
Thanks, Bob

Sorry, it's a 4s if that makes a difference!

I have not seen that as being possible on mine.

Not possible currently although no doubt the moment your car is delivered it will become an option!

I seem to remember a guy on the 5 series forum with mobile application on his F10 was able to read text messages.  I'll have a look and see if I can gather anymore information.

I could do it on my E53 with my Nokia 6310i at the time...

Indeed :) my ancient dedicated Sony Ericsson happily transfers address book contacts and all text messages to screen in my 2005 vintage 4.8. I have just left it like that and not bothered to pair my iphone 4s

I receive notification of a received text on the i-drive screen plus 'Helga' (our name for the computer voice) can read it out.
Although both email and SMS is selected in the phone setup screen, I have never had an e-mail appear on screen, only SMS.
Oct 2012 E70 with Media pack, bluetooth prep with an iphone4.

If i'm honest, I don't find it a useful feature really, more a distraction when driving.

Cheers,
Keith

If I ever get such a fancy new X at some stage I had better disable that feature as Helga will get laryngitis trying to keep up with all thememails I get and wear her idrive out :)

I don't think iPhones allow text message transfer something to do with some sort of sim access iirc correctly from the Porsche forums

The full 'Office' functionality only worked with Blackberry phones, which given BMWs cozy relationship with the fruity phones always struck me as a bit odd, but then Blackberry is another type of fruit innit..... ;)
