Some friggin white van clipped the X5 and drove off.  smashing the glass, the mirror cover and the mirror cap trim is lost! Luckily the electrics are working ok on it.

Any reccomendations on where I can get good replacement parts? seen a few on ebay but i'm always dubious!

Same happened to me a few years back. He smashed my right mirror straight off....problem is....my window was open so I got my face covered in glass...blood galore!

eBay should be fine. Just go and collect if you have any doubts.

The same white van did the same to my dad's X5.

I got the parts from the BMW dealer at the time to fix it. He got the shell resprayed in NL.

White vans should be banned  >:D

Sorry to here the news but hopefully you can get it fixed easily and the important thing is at least they didn't mark the rest of the car.

My brother in law had his range rover side swipe by a lorry and the delivery driver denied it and as it was my brother in laws word against the driver he ended up claiming in his insurance and that was a lot in to five figures !

i've calmed down now! just so frustrating, I keep imagining him having a laugh with his mates about it!

anyways I shall try the ebay route, although even that works out about £150 to fix it all. I did find bill from llast owner who had it all replaced previously and cost £500 at BMW!

£150 is a lot better than the £1200 EACH BMW will charge you. That's for a auto fold type and the cover sprayed/fitted. Another reason why they're getting stolen.  >:(

Make sure you buy the correct one, if you don't have auto folding then don't buy one that is, thinking you'll be able to push it back manually. You'll break the cogs on the motor inside and it will be all lose after that.

Manual one's are cheaper. Just save a search and hopefully you'll come across one fairly quickly.

That's way too much. I got both new mirror units without covers and mirror glass for £670 from the dealer. The chromatic glass is only a couple of hundred each.
