tyre pressures winter wheels

Post by Ashway » Tue Nov 06, 2012 8:36 am

I fitted my winter wheels at the weekend but I'm not certain what pressures I should be running at. The tyres are 255/50 19 front and 285/45 rear, Vredestein Wintrac extreme non runflats.

I have read that with winters they should be run at slightly higher pressures. Any help appreciated

I run mine at what it recommends for the size of tyre (on a sticker on front door I think).
I think the point on pressures is as follows (from Blackcircles) -

For every 5°C that the weather drops a tyre will lose about 1 psi of air pressure.

Consequently providing you are checking/adjusting pressures around the right temperature (ie not in a heated garage) you'll be fine.
Others can correct me if I'm missing something!
