Voice control

Post by Bob » Sat Nov 03, 2012 8:58 am

Hi, does anyone have any experience of the extended voice control? It's an option at about £300
Is it effective? The system on Audis is excellent and I'd be keen to have it but other systems I've tried eg on Honda cars have been rubbish
Thanks

Hi, I currently have a Honda CR-V with voice control and like yourself find it all but useless.  However on my 520 (F10) the voice control is first rate, use it to set navigation, make calls etc. that said, mine was part of the Media Package, I don't think I would pay an extra £300 as I wouldn't miss it too much.

I've got it and it's pretty useless - I hardly ever use it.  The voice recognition is pretty poor so it often misunderstands, and you have to learn the right words for everything per the manual.  Use the wrong word and it won't understand eg have to say "cd and multimedia" rather than just "cd".  You also seem to have to navigate through the menu rather than it taking you straight to what you've asked for.  I regret going for it, and wish I'd put the funds towards going for the individual hifi rather than professional.
