Where to get second hand vehicle prices?

Post by kkodal78 » Wed Oct 31, 2012 8:38 pm

As above i am trying to see if there is a good site where i can get a price for second hand vehicles. I have a coworker who is having issues with his mini cooper S and it seems like a possible headgasket so i was thinking about  buying it and get my hands dirty to work on it but don't really know how much it is actually worth to offer him any price so if there is a good site where i can put car info to get a price would be great? Any ideas? Thanks in advance
His car is a 2002 cooper S with 6 speed gearbox and has 67k miles

Parkers have a free one, webuyanycar will give you bottom book price less abit,  google issues on minis first, my cousins just had a load of issues luckily it was covered by auc warrenty on a 57 plate, it needed 3k on the engine and that was suspected head!

So a head gasket job could be 3K? That is insane.

That's what it was diagnosed as originally, don't know what it was in the end but there was also cam belt and tenshioner issues (I think caused by whoever stripped it down) also the 3k bill was at stealer rates! I would just allow a large margin in it for yourself, just in case

Go on network q and get the price from there, you have to give them a few details about youself as well, but you can always be a bit vague about that, ( if you know what i mean ). They used to use glass's guide.

Tbh the best thing to do is search auto trader and pistonheads for a few like for like vehicles and use their prices minus a touch as a good guide price.
