Fifth Gear / Top Gear

It occurred to me the other day that there hadn't been a new series of either on TV.  Having looked up as to why I see the next Top Gear series has been postponed to next year to avoid competing with a singing / talent competition. No great loss - I tend to watch it but it's an ego trip for the presenters more than anything else, and has become very light on genuine motoring content. Fifth gear went out on Discovery channel, and is now available on YouTube w/o the adverts. Much better programme with 3 race drivers as presenters (plus one right plonk*r) - I'm enjoying working through them now... some great content.

I fell asleep when TG 2001 Christmas specials......... JM driving a yank car  around some blocks & 3 wise men trashing cars including a Z3.......Genuinely boring.

Fifth Gear fan here........if only I had time to catch up with them all.

Top gear special on tonight, something to do with "bond' lol.
Fifth gear is much better for people who actually want to watch a prog. about cars,and occasionally bikes, rather than about who can make their hair look the most stupid.
Hammond is just about getting on my nerves, every time you turn the bloody tv on these days, he's on there.

Yes Top Gear Bond special tonight, 9pm BBC2 / BBC HD.  Looking forward to it - should be the sort of thing they do well ... although remains to be seen how they do ars*ng around trying to make an underwater Lotus.  I think we all know how that will turn out!

Shame they had Hammond ::)

Amuses me that the gadgets "just happen" to match the required defence in the plot :)

The cable cutter that pops up from the BMW750 bonnet badge comes in handy when a cable is stretched in front.....fancy that.....bl@@dy useless elsewhere

there was another interesting programme today - i think it was on channel 5, on the real life james bond... or i should say, the real life ppl who influenced the character, although not so much about the cars..
