Looks like an aerial cable of some sort.....if you are referring to the tiny silver plug to the right of the CD-changer?

GPS working OK?  Mobile phone working OK?  Wondering it it's a connector from the TCU to external aerial... ???

Mobile phone works ok, sat nav is ok, radio has signal issues when driving........ It's not a long cable so unsure what it could or should connect to. It's a mystery!!!  :-[

If no other option springs to mind, it could have been for a tracking device of some sort perhaps?  The one in my E53 had a similar connector for the mobile phone 'alarm' antenna.  Mine wasn't in the boot - but it could have been the location for the OEM 'Tracker' system and the previous owner removed it?

IIRC there was a plug like that on the so called trimble unit in my E39, so it may well have been nav related?

Looks like some further investigation is warranted! I'll report back once I've had time to pull some trim off and see where it goes.
