What MPG do you get?

I am getting 18.8 mpg. Is that really low?

Should be nearer the high 20's - mid 30's.  What type of driving are you doing - urban?  Short journeys are also an mpg killer.

That's poor. Even my 545i is getting 24mpg! Not around town obviously, that's closer to 15mpg

30 to 31 mpg here in Canada (imperial not US MPG).
33 or more on a motorway at just over 70 mph

The BMW stats are terrible. You wont get anything like what BMW suggest no matter how carefully you drive.

My 3.0sd (35d) is getting around 32mpg on the motorway at a steady 80ish. Around Central London in traffic etc I'm getting around 20mpg.

Better than my M3 which could be as low as 12 on short trips round Central London !!  :o

Sounds not too far away to me. I have an 08 3.0sd so its the 35d engine. Gets 21-22 with quite a bit of town and school run driving. There is a decent proportion of A road driving but it still seems to stick to that average.

Best I have seen is 30mpg on a long run on A roads sticking to speed limits.

They are kinda thirsty, 40d should do a few more mpg but its only 4 or 5 more at most.

Totally agree. But then we have to remember they are 2.2 tons and nearly 300bhp ! That considered its not bad to get 32mpg on a motorway run, which I got recently from Sussex to London.
