YET ANOTHER PDC CURIOSITY

Hi!

As some of you may well know PDC has a conscience of it's own. For two weeks now, sometimes when put in reverse it's going crazy. Usually, this happens:

There is nothing behind the vehicle but i goes on with that terrible beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep continuously. When this happens also the front is acting up...

So, the culprit would be either a faulty sensor or the PDC module is f'ed up.

What do you think?
With what should i start? Replacing the module or changing the sensors?

Activate the parking sensors then stick your ear next to each one in turn, the one(s) not clicking are dud....BMW scanner would also record a fault so if there all clicking then I'd get your codes read before spending out on bits in the hope they will cure your issue

Sounds definitely like a sensor issue.

The front & rear have separate sounders so you can short cut to the right end straight away.

Testing trick mentioned above - Simple but effective

10nx, have tried that, but they all click....front and back.....it's like something is shortcircuiting the signal, sometimes it works others it beeps continuously although nothing is behind....have taken out the lid and jolted the cable ....it worked well for about 5 mins then went wrong again....i'll take down the bumper and see if the cable rotted away and touches something else....dunno yet

My fronts do something similar when i have the sidelights on.

But that is because I have aftermarket CCFL Angel eyes and one of the invertors is not shielded sufficiently.

Have you got anything fitted that could interfere??

Schaff. I have exactly the same issue as you. I already discovered and replaced one faulty rear sensor that had no effect so I suspect there Is another rear failing intermittently. Will try scanner soon but not sure will show up a fault. Might have to disconnect each sensor in turn to find culprit!

Nothing was fitted afterwards...it suddenly started to behave like this, sometimes when rolling out of the carwash, presumably because sensors or cable were wet, but after drying up worked perfectly....but now i'm guessing that the isolation has fallen apart and is touching something (either the exhaust or other metal part)

When i jolted the cable it worked properly...i have to say that the cable is no longer fitted firmly to the bumper (it came out of its clips inside) i'll check the entire wiring and see if it rotted away or something.

if this is not the case then only the pdc module remains to be checked.

As for the diagnosis...i'd rather check myself all i could think of and afterwards go to have it serviced (you don't want to go to the services in Romania even if official dealer's
