EU Poposals as issued for discussion by Member States in July 2012.  These are the minimum standards, individual countries can get tougher.  It's all part of this new Roadworthiness Package the EU is focussing on.  A lot of what is in there is already done in the UK, but some bits look to be going to get tougher.

I picked it up from an item on 'smoked/tinted' headlight (or tail light) lenses will become an MOT failure, but though the whole lot may as well appear for folks to at least look at.

There's also a proposal going through that if your car is found with a serious (though not defined) issue not only do you lose your MOT, but your car's Registration is suspended too.  Different!

Just having a quick look and there are some interesting ones in here namely:

Water content of, or boiling point of Brake Fluid
Demisting system!
Efficiency testing of damping using specialist equipment!
Engine performance. Illegal modification is a fail!
Inappropriate bodywork modification!
Locks and Anti theft device
Audible warning device

If half these get through the cost will go through the roof, and it will take ages to do the test.

Not looking forward to this at all.

Good spot thanks.
