Windscreen washers stopped working

Hi all, my windscreen washers on my x6 have stopped working >:( . I think it may be a blocked filter as the headlight ones work fine and window washer makes the noise like its trying to pump water but nothing comes out. I have checked underneath and the carpets to make sure nothing is wet and all seems ok, which leads me to thinks its blocked or a filter that's blocked. Does anybody know if there is a filter on these that I can check, I have looked under the bonnet and the washer reservoir looks like its in the wing which will probably be a pain to get at.

Thanks
Bolio

It's all buried in the front wing!!  Probably have to get at it through the wheel arch or something daft.  It's hard enough to even see how full the tank is!!  Not the best bit of design, and I haven't found a TIS for the X6 on-line yet... :wall:

I've sorted it :). When it was in the other day having the software update I asked them to look into why they wasn't working, service rep says the washers will be blocked it happens all the time we can fix it for you for £180. So i said I will call back and get it booked in to be done. This morning I decided to get my tyre compressor made a connection with some bits of tape and one of the dogs syringes for its ear drops, pulled the pipe off the washer jets and stuck it in. It blew the water back out of the reservoir so seemed to clear it stuck the pipe back onto the jet and now all back working again, simples!. BMW wanted £180 for that 2 min job, what a joke :))

That's a good tip....... :ok:

I had it happen on the tailgate washer for my E53 and it was done under warranty......

I now only use filtered water and BMW screen wash as I have found that with our very hard water here combined with any mixing of the different screen-wash manufacturers detergents can result in a white gunk forming in the tank which promptly blocks the nozzles.  Never had a blockage since.

A flush with syringe and clean water via suitable diameter  silicon hose will do this too if folk have same issue. I recently used that method on my daughters car.
